Determine motion parameters of moving objects with image processing

Motion parameters classify the movement behavior of an object. First, the path of a moving object is tracked and recorded over a certain period of time. Characteristic parameters can then be calculated from the measurement results of the digitized track (track length, Euclidean distance between start and end point, curvature radii, etc.). Based on the resulting movement pattern of each individual, a statement about his behaviour or condition can be made in individual cases or statistically about the totality of the recorded tracks.

The objects tracked can vary greatly: from individual protozoons to particles in currents to movements of fish fins.
